Contemporary Self-Portraits is an international community art project focused on self-portraits and expression through the means of self-portraits. It gives individuals and communities around Europe a chance for self-expression and to explore one’s own identity through self-portraits. During the two-year project (2012–2014), self-portrait workshops for diverse target groups have been held in four European cities. Project partners include the National College of Art & Design (Dublin, Ireland), Bildmuseet (Umeå, Sweden), the Tallinn Academy of Arts (Estonia) and the International Summer School of Photography (ISSP, Riga, Latvia). The project has been coordinated by the Arts Academy of Turku University of Applied Sciences and it’s funded by the EU Culture Programme.
